JEFF MARTZKE, PH.D., R.PSYCH. – practicing in our Nelson office

Dr. MartzkeDr. Martzke has been a registered psychologist in British Columbia (#01134) since 1994. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1989 from the University of Iowa. He subsequently completed an internship in Clinical Neuropsychology at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, and served as staff Neuropsychologist for five years at University Hospital (now London Health Sciences Centre) in London, Ontario. Over the next decade Dr. Martzke was a psychologist at Vancouver General Hospital where he provided neuropsychological consultation services to the Neurosciences Unit and on in-patient psychiatric units. Having worked at tertiary care neurosciences units for over 15 years, Dr. Martzke gained extensive experience with individual’s with a wide range of neurological and psychiatric conditions, including stroke, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injury, dementia (Alzheimer’s and other types), brain tumours, toxic exposures, metabolic and inherited conditions, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and psychiatric conditions including major depression, schizophrenia and PTSD. Throughout his clinical career, Dr. Martzke has maintained an active private practice, providing neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic assessments for diagnostic, rehabilitation and medical-legal purposes. He has been accepted as an expert witness in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. In addition to his role at Summit Psychology Group, Dr. Martzke also provides neuropsychological assessment and consultation services within the  Acquired Brain Injury Programs in both the West Kootenay – Boundary and East Kootenay Health Regions of the Interior Health Authority.

Dr. Martzke is a Psychology Instructor at Selkirk College, an Adjunct Professor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia (Clinical Psychology) and Simon Fraser University (Clinical Neuropsychology), and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Neurology, Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. In these capacities, Dr. Martzke has been actively involved in the training of undergraduate and graduate students, residents and post-doctoral fellows seeking intensive and specialized training in clinical neuropsychology. Dr. Martzke has also been an active researcher throughout his career, having garnered numerous research grants and awards from provincial and national funding agencies. His research activities have resulted in over 60 published articles and abstracts pertaining to clinical neuropsychology.
