TODD KETTNER, PH.D., R.PSYCH.
Dr. Kettner has been registered as a psychologist in British Columbia (#01449) since 2000 when he opened his private practice in Nelson. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1999 from the Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California. He subsequently completed an internship in Clinical Psychology in the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Clinical Health Psychology, at the University of Manitoba. Upon completion of the internship program, Dr. Kettner accepted a faculty position as an Assistant Professor at the U of M.
As a clinician, Dr. Kettner has enjoyed the experiences of working in public and private hospitals, in outpatient clinics and inpatient wards, with people as young as 4 and as old as 83. He has appreciated his interactions with people of all ages who have struggled with depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, learning disabilities, family problems, relationship issues, brain injuries, dementia, occupational rehabilitation and other challenges. Academically, he has been challenged and invigorated while teaching psychology courses and seminars at Selkirk College, La Sierra University in California and in the Faculties of Medicine and Social Work at the University of Manitoba. He has supervised doctoral students in clinical psychology as a clinical associate with Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia. Provincially, he has been active on the Board of Directors of the British Columbia Psychological Association, including serving a one-year term as President. Locally, he has volunteered on the boards of the Nelson District Community Resources Society, the Nelson Economic Development Partnership and Spectrum Solutions for children with developmental disabilities.
