SANDRA JITTLER
Sandra Jittler completed her clinical training in Psychology at McGill University, Montréal, Québec. She works with individuals of a variety of ages ranging from early childhood through to older adulthood. Her expertise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Child Psychology, Systemic Family Therapy, Group Therapy, Play Therapy, and Existential Therapy techniques supports clients in overcoming anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, substance abuse, eating disorders, learning disabilities, developmental delays, ADHD, behavioural problems and physical illness.
In Montréal, she refined her clinical skills at the Sir Mortimer B. Davis -Jewish General Hospital where she worked with adolescents at the Herzl Family Health Clinic and also with cancer patients in the oncology program. She later had the opportunity to become part of a team in a unique Day Program that provided comprehensive support and services to families and their children with severe behavioural problems. She also completed a clinical practicum in Neuropsychology at the world renowned Montréal Neurological Institute and Hospital where she gained skills in the assessment of individuals with epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, tumours, and other neurological conditions. She has extensive training in psycho-educational assessment.
She has a strong interest in research and has most recently been involved in projects exploring stress, hormones and memory. The chronic stress of caregiving and women’s health issues, including premenstrual and menopausal change, are also areas of expertise. She has been invited to present at both local and international conferences on these topics and has mentored students conducting research in these domains. While completing her undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University she was involved in prostate cancer research. She continues to enjoy working with individuals of all ages. Her particular expertise working with children and their families, along with her broad assessment experience, are welcome additions to Summit Psychology Group.
